Story

About your challenge

Your trek challenge will last for approximately 12 hours, but for the people we support and their families, their challenges can last for a lifetime. With your help, we can be there to provide vital care and support to children and adults with physical and learning disabilities in Dorset.

Join us on this unique trek challenge which has been created exclusively for supporters of Diverse Abilities. The Dorset 3 Peaks might not be the most famous of the UK's '3 Peak' challenges, but this is your chance to take on what is still a very demanding challenge.

Throughout the twists and turns of the challenge, you'll be taking on three huge hills - Lewesdon Hill (279m), Pilsdon Pen (277m) and Bulbarrow Hill (274m), covering 46km along the Wessex Ridgeway (which is more than a marathon distance!) and covering a cumulative ascent of 1,357m (more than the ascent of Ben Nevis!).

Meet one of the families we support

Langside, the specialist school run by Dorset charity Diverse Abilities, has welcomed three-year-old triplets Harvey, Gabriel and Daniel with open arms.

All three boys have profound disabilities and life has been very hard for the family, but with Langside School's help this is now changing.

On 28 June 2015, and at only 26 weeks old, we saw the arrival of not just three, but four little guys that would change our lives forevermore - Bradley, Daniel, Gabriel and Harvey." - Rob Emery, father.

Sadly, little Bradley succumbed to a blood clot and left the family at just 16 days old. The family were left with a sore heart and no time to grieve as they had three warriors in hospital and two older children at home to care for.

With the boys starting Langside School at an early age, they have access to specialist equipment, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists which are all provided by the charity. This level of support is already helping the boys, giving them the greatest opportunity to positively impact their development.

Your donations change lives to so many families just like the Emery family - thank you.
