Door 24 Christmas Campaign
This Christmas we're celebrating the year of the young people through our new campaign Door 24. Every day we're opening a new door on our digital 'advent calendar' to raise awareness about our life-changing work.
Story
This Christmas, we're saying a big THANK YOU for all the support we've received over the past year. Whether you've volunteered, donated, or spread the word, every bit of help goes towards providing support to those in their time of need. Without it, we wouldn't have been able to help over 6,000 people who were at risk of, or experiencing homelessness.
We believe that everyone should have equal opportunities to lead fulfilled, happy, and secure lives. Through our 37 projects, we support those who find themselves excluded from family, home, work or community. Nobody chooses this - that's why we're here
Many of our services work with young people who are experiencing conflict, helping open doors and unlock their potential; young people such as Nicholas. Family difficulties and bullying at school had left him feeling stressed and out of control. He would take out his anger on his mum, who he's always been close to and he didn't want to be around his dad or his siblings.
After being referred by his school, Nicholas started working with our Mediation and Support Team.
Working with Cyrenians has been a great experience. I am not getting over my anger but I have learned to control it which has helped me as a person. I now know how to deal with certain problems such as people who bully - I need to just practice the skills now!
This team is one service among many that support people at risk. During the festive season, we invite you to check our social media pages each day to open a door and find out more about the journeys people take with us and why we need your help to continue doing so.
We are so grateful to everyone who has journeyed with us this year; those who've provided expertise and financial support, our 1,005 volunteers, 130 dedicated staff members, and most of all the 6,000 individuals who placed their trust in us when trusting someone was the hardest thing to do.
We will continue to grow over the next year, helping more people in more places than ever before. However, we cannot do this without your help. This Christmas, help us open the door for those most in need:
£5 could pay for someone to enjoy a Christmas Lunch at one of our community cook clubs where they would be made welcome every week of the year to enjoy good food in good company.
£10 would cover the cost of Christmas lunch for a young person at one of our residential communities, enjoying a traditional Christmas for the first time.
£25 would pay for a monthly mediation session for a young person at risk of homelessness to sit down with their family in a safe space and try to keep them together through Christmas.
£50 could pay for a family in housing crisis to access support and advice at Christmas.
