In October 2005, following the devastating earthquake in Northern Pakistan which measured 7.5 on the richter scale, a group of UK-based doctors travelled, with donations, supplies and equipment, and set up immediate emergency relief camps to treat the injured in the affected areas.

Realising the incredible unmet need for medical care in the region, Midland Doctors® was formed with a vision to build an earthquake-proof hospital in Muzaffarabad which would provide free healthcare to the poor and destitute. With incredible amounts of goodwill from architects, equipment suppliers, the local population, donors and many medical professionals, Midland Doctors® were able to start construction in 2006 and progress to inauguration in 2013.

Between 2013 and 2019 the Midland Doctors Medical Institute (MDMI) hospital treated ~250,000 patients, all free of charge in the NHS model and to NHS standards. Concurrently, the organisation has also diverged into other charitable projects including constructing the Nur Goth housing scheme, emergency relief, including floods and COVID-19, and supporting the SOS children's village in Tandali.

However, none of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors who continually support the work we do. For continually sustaining the MDMI and providing for numerous significant cause across Pakistan, we require your help and donations. As an organisation we are large enough to make a difference but small enough to ensure your donations are given directly to the cause. We are a 0% administration expense charity and our executive committee are 100% dedicated to the cause.
