Closes 30/06/2025
While most of us are gearing up for Christmas (and maybe indulging just a little too much?), our beloved, heroic Belgian friend, Domin, is doing something truly extraordinary.
He’s setting off on his bike and heading south—aiming to cycle all the way to Dakar. That’s right, through Morocco, Mauritania, and Senegal, covering an incredible 4,000 kilometers.
The journey has been anything but boring. After arriving in Morocco by ferry, Domin made his way to Martil, where he met some lovely locals and managed to keep his spirits high. He’s already battled flu, taken on tough mountain roads, and even found himself cycling in the dark before rolling into Chefchaouen for a much-needed rest. It’s been a mix of challenges and little victories, and Domin’s determined (and slightly mad) energy is keeping him moving forward.
Now making his way through the mountains near Ouazzane, Domin is soaking in the breathtaking views, despite heavy luggage, challenging roads, and close encounters with cars. Equipped with a RifCom flag for safety, he’s pushing through each day with grit and determination. Even a twisted ankle didn’t stop him—after a quick soak in a nearby river, he was back on the bike, ready for the next stretch of the journey.
The weather has been kind, the conditions are good, and Domin is getting stronger with every kilometre. This incredible adventure is already inspiring everyone who hears about it, and we can’t wait to see how far he’ll go.
Let’s cheer him on, donate to his JustGiving page and help make this epic adventure count

UPDATE
Cycling from Spain to Senegal is no small feat, and Dom’s adventure has been nothing short of extraordinary. Along the way, he’s faced his fair share of challenges but also encountered moments of kindness and camaraderie that highlight the best of human nature. From unexpected detours to generous strangers, this journey is shaping up to be one for the books.
One memorable stopover had no hotels or hostels, so Dom jokingly offered to sleep in jail—but was politely refused because, well, he wasn’t a criminal! That wasn’t the only surprising encounter. At one point, the local chief of police and the mayor personally escorted Dom to a generous family’s home, where he enjoyed the comfort of his own bed and shower.
As Dom pedalled 60 to 100 kilometres a day, he met inspiring people like a Czech man “walking the world” to spread motivation. Road workers invited him to lunch, a Moroccan doctor cycled alongside him for an hour before donating 300 dirhams to RifCom, and a kind lady made him a delicious sardine lunch.
The road hasn’t been easy, though. Dom has battled flu-like symptoms, aching muscles, and even a grumpy policeman who objected to the RifCom flag on his bike. But despite the challenges, Dom’s spirits remain high. He even found energy to joke about his sore legs and bum after cycling 100 kilometres in a day!
Morocco’s west coast has provided a mix of stunning landscapes and signs of transformation, with new roads, bridges, and urban developments springing up along the way. After spending Christmas in the surf town of Safi, known for its phosphate industry, Dom is looking forward to getting to Essaouira, where he plans to finally take a well-deserved rest.
Dom’s warmth and humour seem to draw out the best in everyone he meets, inviting friendship, laughter, and acts of generosity along the way. From everyone cheering him on, Happy New Year, Dom! May the road to Senegal treat you kindly
