Story
Diwali Basket Brigade (DBB) is a community initiative funded on donations and run by local volunteers. We provide food hampers to socially deprived / vulnerable households, from all faiths and backgrounds in the UK, ahead of Diwali.
DBB will be taking place on 4th and 5th November 2023 when we will get together at venues in Birmingham, London, Manchester and Leicester to pack and deliver the hampers. Given the current economic climate, there is an even BIGGER need to support the increasing number of families living with food poverty.
We have partnered with multiple food banks and charities across the UK to provide food hampers. These will then be distributed by our partners, to socially deprived, and vulnerable families from all faiths and backgrounds. The hampers will cost £10 each and contain essential non-perishable food items, toiletries such as toothpaste and also a handmade Diwali card - we hope each gift will help to spread the message of hope, love and giving at Diwali.
Last year 3000 hampers were packed and distributed bringing the total to 8,300 since inception.
Any donations received after the event date will be used to support Poverty and Food-related charitable causes.
DBB is our small collective effort to support and spread the message of hope, happiness, and giving at Diwali.
