Story
We still need your help to raise money to buy furniture, IT equipment and library resources, by kindly donating whatever you can afford. However we thought you would like to know a bit more about how the Discovery Centre project has come to life.
Baxall Construction, who are currently working on Southborough Community Hub on the A26/London Road, very close to Southborough Primary School, agreed last year to transform the schools outdated library and IT facility into a dynamic learning space complete with collaborative learning booths, an amphitheatre and the latest technology.
Working closely with the schools senior leadership team, architectural plans were agreed upon in early spring and Baxalls builders got to work in July knocking down walls and dismantling dusty ceilings. Fast-forward to late August, and all that remains to be completed before the children return on 2nd September is the final coat of paint and completion of the flooring.
Baxall provided the building and renovation work cost-free, while firms including Kileys Karpets, Bexhill Electrical, Macai, Brith Services, Gerflor and Crown Paint contributed labour and materials, all free of charge.
Giving back to the local community is a hugely important part of our company ethos, commented Malcolm Clarke, MD of Baxall Construction. Were delighted to have the opportunity to work closely with Southborough Primary School and our supply chain to create this brand-new facility ready in time for the childrens return.
Emma Savage, head teacher at Southborough Church of England Primary School, added: On behalf of everyone at Southborough Primary School, I'd like to sincerely thank everybody involved in this project for giving their time and resources so generously. The Discovery Centre will be a fantastic addition to our school and will make such a positive impact upon our pupils learning.
