The Dingley's Promise Pandemic Recovery Appeal for children with SEND
The pandemic has had a devastating effect on children with special educational needs and disabilities. Long periods of isolation and lack of social contact has impacted their speech and language skills, physical development and emotional wellbeing.
The impacts of the pandemic on many families who have children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) have been devastating.
Dingley's Promise provides specialist education and support to children in the early years with SEND and their families. In March last year, the pandemic stopped our vital work, and we were forced to adapt overnight to the reality of providing remote support as well as ensuring the protection of all children who were able to return to our centres.
During the Pandemic, Dingley's Promise received emergency COVID funds, but these funds are no longer available and the demand for our services, as the children and families rebuild their lives, is greater than ever.
The reality is that the recovery process for each individual child may take months or even years.
This year we need to raise a further £180k to fund the recovery work needed in our 3 centres and via outreach and therefore are asking for your help. Please donate today to ensure that all of every children with SEND supported by Dingley's Promise has the chance to rebuild their lives.
Dingley's Promise was the only "service" we heard from throughout the whole of lockdown, all other services just seemed to stop running, stopped contacting us and it was as if it was deemed our daughter (and us) suddenly didn't need any support, when in fact, our support needs had increased.
I feel worried about the long term impacts on Lily, but we have faith in the support she receives at Dingley's Promise to help her to continue to grow and develop and with additional support, to eventually recover from this challenging time.

Dingley's Promise provide places where children, from birth to 5 years, with special educational needs and disabilities come to develop skills through play. More than this, it is a place where their parents/carers are welcome, where they can make friends and share experiences.
