Story
On October 7th as Hamas breached the Israel/Gaza border, a group of legal, academic and feminist experts knew that such attacks could entail horrendous sexual violence. They mobilized immediately to counter denial, false information, and silencing.
Since then, the Rackman Center’s 'Dinah Project' has grown internationally, seeking justice and recognition for the victims of Hamas’ sexual violence perpetrated on October 7th and against the hostages held in Gaza, as well as for victims of Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) around the world.
The Project has built a comprehensive knowledge base of the crimes perpetrated on October 7th. This knowledge is shared with political and communal leaders around the world. Briefings have been held with the UN Security Council, UN High Commissioner of Human Rights, British MPs and White House Senior Staff.
Dinah Project co-founder, Prof. Halperin-Kaddari, was instrumental in bringing Pramila Patten, UN Secretary-General, Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict to the region. Patten went on to produce a comprehensive report documenting clear evidence of sexual violence and the systematic nature of these crimes.
But more still needs to be done.
The Dinah Project is pushing for the prosecution of the Hamas perpetrators and advocating for changes in international law. To ensure the world never forgets, the Project intend to gather more evidence, sharing their research and findings through international investigations and conferences.
To do all this, additional support is needed. By donating to the Dinah Project, you will help advance its mission to:
1. Bring the Hamas perpetrators of sexual violence to justice
2. Ensure the world never forgets the gender-based atrocities committed on October 7th, and the ongoing abuse of the hostages
3. Bring justice for victims of Conflict Related Sexual Violence around the world
