Story
The DIF team is participating in an endurance challenge to fundraise for Greater Change! Greater Change is a charity and social enterprise focussed on helping people permanently move on from homelessness. The DIF endurance challenge involves team members competing to walk, run or cycle as many kilometers as possible between the 8th February and 8th March. All funds raised will be matched by DIF.
Teams will be assessed on a per capita basis, with 1 km of walking/running equating to 3km of cycling
How does it work? Download Strava and add yourself to either DIF Challenge Run Club or DIF Challenge Cycle club or both! Record any activities you do throughout your week and fundraise on JustGiving from supporters. For those who don't want to log times on the app, email distances to your Team Leader
Weekly leadership boards will be circulated and an awards ceremony at the end of challenge for the: Best Team - Best Photo and more!
What should I aim for? As much as you can manage. Walking 10-20km per week or cycling 20-40km per week can be a good target.
Fundraising target of £100 per entry is suggested.
Email Warda and Claudia if you're interested in taking part .
Greater Change was founded based on an observation that people often need both financial and non financial support to leave homelessness behind for good. Traditionally, homeless charities are well equipped to provide non-financial support, however, financial support for things like rent deposits, identification documents and skills courses is not particularly available. Greater Change overcomes this by providing funding to help individuals overcome financial barriers. Over 2/3 of the homeless people supported by Greater Change move into permanent accommodation.
