Visit the charity's profileAs an organization with more than a century of experience in caring for our community, the Valley of the Sun YMCA responds quickly to these challenges; creatively expanding our programs to meet our community when, where and how we are needed most.
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we can continue to ensure the health, safety and well-being of every YMCA child and family. We are working to pave the way for a bright future to all of our community no matter their age, race, gender or socioeconomic status.
The Valley of the Sun YMCAs mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Y programs support parents in creating stronger families in order to lower child poverty, reduce social-isolation and increase positive health outcomes.
In 2024, the Y will:
• Support 210 youth in their development through after school, out of school and summer day camp programming regardless of their ability to pay.
Y programs provide critical safety around water knowledge and teach swimming skills for youth and adults.
In 2024, the Y will:
• Offer 300 free Safety Around Water lessons.
Y programs work to reduce depression and fear through outreach and safe social gatherings.
In 2024, the Y will:
• Serve 2,100 seniors in our community. Provide free access to 24 members of our community to the LIVESTRONG cancer survivorship program.
Y membership and wellness programs can improve the health and well-being of our community to reduce chronic disease, obesity, and improve mental health.
In 2024, the Y will:
• Serve the health and wellness needs of the Desert Foothills community through affordable fitness programming for individuals and families and offer chronic disease prevention programs to all.
