Update (06/05/2020):
This pandemic has had a big impact on our ability to support the most vulnerable people in our local community and the services we offer to those facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion.
We would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has so far donated to our Emergency Cash Appeal. We have been blown away by the support that weve received from the local community. Together with donations on this page, our appeal has raised over £50,000!
Thanks to the generosity of the local community, businesses and grants, we now have an adequate supply of PPE and the self-isolation units at our Hostel are all equipped.
Our attention must now turn to the demand our services will continue to face once lockdown is eased, then lifted.
We are currently experiencing an unprecedented rise in visits to our Foodbank and we expect this increase to continue, with young children still unable to attend breakfast clubs or free school meals until schools are back. We are also expecting to see an increase in people needing our support having been moved on from their temporary accommodation. Simultaneously, we will still be running on a reduced income due to the cancellation of our events and loss of income from other fundraising streams.
As with every organisation, we are unsure as to how long it will take to recover and have therefore taken the decision to increase our target from £20,000 to £35,000 to help ensure that we are able to continue to run our vital services and support vulnerable people in our community now, and beyond lockdown.
Your donation will not only help make up the large shortfall in our income, however it will ensure that we are able to continue to run our vital services and support vulnerable people in our community now, and beyond lockdown.
Please donate what you can to help us to support us during this time of crisis.
If you prefer, you can also pay directly into our bank. Please email us on fundraising@dens.org.uk for our bank details.
Thank you so much for your support.
