Story
Delia Kennedy, an inspiring 78-year old from Cullompton, Devon, is walking 100 miles in support of Refugee Support Devon in September.
Delia, and her travelling companion, a small teddy named TTT, have already clocked up over 800 miles since January in support of eight different causes. We're privileged to be her choice of charity for September.
Here is what Delia has to say:
"Friday, 1st September was a good morning to start walking to raise funds for Refugee Support Devon. The weather was ideal, not raining or too hot.
"My little companion, TTT, has been with me now for probably more than 10 years and experienced some of the most spectacular walking in Scotland.
"We really enjoy 'walking the seasons' and watching nature at work, from the 'awakening' in spring, to this time of year when it is all beginning to change slowly again and we look forward to witnessing the glories of the autumn colours.
"I love walking on tops of hills and the route home takes us along a quiet road with fantastic views over surrounding country, which on a good day can stretch from Dartmoor in the far distance over to north Devon and Exmoor. Spectacular.
"A good first 11 miles - 89 to go!!"
Rupert Blomfield, Refugee Support Devon's Manager, comments:
"We are very pleased that Delia is walking in support of our work in September. We're all in awe of her vast reserves of energy and enthusiasm.
"Refugee Support Devon was set up in 2001. Our vision is for Devon to be a county where people who have had to flee from their homes in other parts of the world can find the protection they need, rebuild their lives in safety and dignity, and achieve their full potential. Please visit our website https://refugeesupportdevon.org.uk/ to find out about all the services we offer."
