Story
For over a century, the British Institute of Florence has provided life-changing educational and cultural opportunities for thousands of people inspired by, and connected with, the beautiful historic city of Florence. In a city that sometimes feels overrun by short stay Instagram tourists, the Institute reinvents the tradition of the Grand Tour for the contemporary world through deep study of the history, art and life of Florence, together with authentic social connection. Our aim: Bridging Cultures to Transform Lives.
The British Institute of Florence is a unique stand-alone non-profit, in receipt of no public funding whatsoever. It is a rare and precious space where deep heritage connects with contemporary needs. It needs to be nurtured and protected for the benefit of all.
We are implementing a strategic plan to preserve the precious heritage that the Institute embodies, whilst developing more ambitious and proactive programming and outreach in the city of Florence and across the world. For this there is a pressing need for new funds, to invest in the programmes and also to greatly strengthen the Institute’s financial foundations, which have historically always been too fragile.
To celebrate the Festa di San Giovanni, we’ve set a goal to raise €30,000 by 24 June.
We already have a generous donation of €5,000 towards that target from one of our supporters. Please join them in helping us raise the rest so that we can end the current year on a high, and move forward confidently with our ambitions for the future.
