Give the Gift of Play: Fife Gingerbread’s Day2Play Appeal 2026
Fife is a wonderful place to spend the summer - from beaches and parks to woodland walks, wildlife and local attractions. For many families, these places make up treasured holiday memories.
But for some children growing up in Fife, those experiences can feel out of reach.
Let’s give Fife’s children a Summer to remember in 2026! Now in it’s fifth year, Day2Play has been vital in giving local children happy memories in the Summer months.
1 in 4 children in Fife are growing up in homes affected by poverty affecting children in every school, playground, and community in Fife. Isolated families can struggle in the school holidays. Fife Gingerbread provides a chance for children to meet new friends, and support families to have days out in their local area.
Covering essentials like food, rent, and heating means there can be little left for days out, treats, or time to simply have fun on a small budget. Without those moments, childhood can feel a little smaller.
Laura Millar from Fife Gingerbread says:
“This appeal is about giving children growing up in poverty the chance to make happy memories, feel valued, and have fun. Whether it’s an ice cream at Lochore Meadows, a walk through Cambo Estate, or a day at the beach, these moments truly matter. The cost-of-living crisis hits the poorest hardest, but every penny raised will help families in Fife make memories.”
Connor, aged 8 from Lochgelly, shares his Day2Play experience:
“We went to the Deer Farm and saw all the animals! I made new friends, and my mum was happy with her friends from Gingerbread. It was great fun. I told my teacher at school, and she said it sounded amazing—it was our holiday.”
