Story
The first, and arguably the finest, 10k swim on the open water calendar.
Never has an event captured the pure essence and ethos of a community as the Dart10k has done for wild swimmers. Starting in Totnes, youll meet hundreds of swimmers ready to take on the River Dart. The smiles. The hugs. The anticipation all around you that something incredible is about to happen.
And it does. The river accepts you and takes you on a soulful journey towards Dittisham, punctuated by landmarks such as the Cormorant Tree, the white rock, Sharpham boathouse and Bow Creek. 10km later and there you are. Sitting in a deckchair with a mug of hot chocolate, warmed from the inside by your incredible achievement.
Youve just swum down one of the most beautiful stretches of river in the UK, and a bucket list swim for so many.
Its supported by volunteers from the local and swimming community, who make it one of the most special events in the swimming calendar. Its a journey, not a race we have fast swimmers, skins swimmers, swimming families, swimmers with disabilities, newbies, butterfly swimmers, leisurely swimmers if you can swim a mile under 40 minutes, theres room for you in the river.
