Story

We're looking for a brave bunch of dippers to take on CancerCare's Dare2Dip every day in January. Are you up for the challenge?

Perhaps you're a seasoned cold-water swimmer who wants to do something amazing for your local community, or you're a total novice when it comes to chilly plunges and want to set yourself a new personal challenge. Irrespective of your experience, we need you to dip every single day during January to help raise money for CancerCare.

We don't expect this month-long stint to be for the faint-hearted, though. During January, the temperatures will drop and the nights will be dark. But we want you to push yourself - embrace the chill and do something epic!

While supporting a local, independent charity, you can also do something good for yourself. Benefits of cold plunging can include a boosted immune system and cognitive function, and improved mood. It may also have a positive effect after exercise by reducing inflammation and soreness. See if you can increase your time spent in the water over the month, too. One of our July dippers improved her time in the pod from a single minute up to an impressive 12 minutes across 31 days!

But where shall I do my dip, you may ask? Here are some ideas:

*Stand in a cold shower

*Run into the sea

*Swim in a local river or lake

*Dig the kids' paddling pool out of the shed

*Try our cold water therapy pod

*Fill your own bathtub

*Plunge into a trough, trug, bin or other home-made pod!

It costs nearly £2m each year to provide free professional therapy to local people and more than 90% of this comes from public donations. People never know when they may need us and its our aim to ensure we are always there when they do.
