Dance for Health needs your donations to continue!
Dance for Health is an online dance class for all. The health benefits of dance, both physical and mental, are well documented and Strathearn Arts, together with qualified dance instructor, Janice Fraser, are determined to get everyone dancing! But we need your help and support to make this happen.
"your classes give me a much needed lift and improve my health"
"dance is a beautiful way how to keep active and it brings some beautiful memories to our residents"
Originally established in early 2020, it was aimed primarily at those living with Parkinson's and other motor neurological conditions offering them in-person dance/exercise. The project had only been running for two weeks when it had to be suspended because of Coronavirus restrictions. With support from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Scottish Government, it was adapted for online delivery and is now offered three times a week via Zoom. The benefits are not just for physical health, the social element of each class is proving extremely important for tackling social isolation and emotional wellbeing.
Dance for Health is now benefitting a much wider range of people than the original focus on Parkinson's. These include people with any kind of mobility or other challenges, including: those being shielded; with certain types of cancer; arthritis; early stage dementia; or, recovering from illness or major surgery.
Funding has been partly secured from The Robertson Trust to continue the project but we will need to find additional funding to match their contribution. Please donate and keep this fantastic project alive!
