Thomas and Sumi were on a short break when their second son Cyrus was suddenly and traumatically born at just 26 weeks. Cyrus was just a few days old, receiving specialist care miles from the family home when he suffered a series of severe haemorrhages affecting his lungs and brain. There was a real chance that he would not pull through.
Thomas and Sumi were asked to make the heartrending decision to stop Cyrus's life support. But, Thomas and Sumi would not let Cyrus go. As they watched their tiny second son, they made a life defining decision. They would support Cyrus in his fight, whatever it took. They resolved that no matter what was ahead, the uncertainty, the challenges, if Cyrus was holding on, they'd be there too, right alongside him.
"It was by chance that we found Dame Vera Lynn Children's charity and from the first phone call we felt we were no longer alone. For my family and so many others, they are a lifeline. But now they face their own battle to survive. As a small charity, the damage caused by Covid 19 has been immense. Their programme of events and community fundraising has been decimated. The money is fast running out. As a family, we are doing all we can to help make sure they can keep going. If you are in a position to help any further, please consider making a donation or getting involved in fundraising. Whatever you do will really help. For children like Cyrus your support is life changing." Thomas Pascoe
All the money raised will help us to support all those children like Cyrus and their families who need our services. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
Dame Vera came to the world's attention in an age of fear, chaos and trauma. She personified that ability to rise above those dark days and give real hope to others. That spirit exists today in the Charity she founded and that still carries her name. For Thomas, Sumi and Cyrus that spirit of optimism and determination shapes their every day.
