Hiya, my name is Glenn Welsh and I have wanted to do a charity event for many years now to raise money and awareness to help towards making a change in young people’s lives and mindsets.
So, a bit about myself and the challenge ahead!
In June 2024 I have organised and will be joining a group of mates who will be cycling from Stafford (UK) to Sennelager (Germany) to help raise money for an amazing charity called CASY (Counselling and Support for Young People) with the challenge to be done over 10 days only!
I am now 27, with a beautiful partner, a great young son and expecting twins in the summer. I have been working for the British Army for quite a few years now and a few years ago I was also organising a charity event to pull a Land Rover for 30 miles again to raise funds also for CASY however, unfortunately I got a serious injury and ruptured my Achillies which needed two operations and took nearly two years to fully recover. Now I am back, fully fit, I really wanted to push myself even further and harder for this amazing charity.
It’s going to be a considerable challenge, setting off on the 17th June 2024. We will upload pictures along the way to show our journey.
I believe this is an amazing charity and the incredible service CASY offer, helping young people from ages 6 to 25 who desperately need all the support and funds to be able to keep this very special selfless and charitable work going, and certainly in today’s time of need for all.
My mum currently works for CASY as a primary and senior school counsellor. Mum says, "it’s a privilege to help young people positively move forward in their lives for a better future, let alone CASY providing guidance and on-going training for the counsellors makes this charity such a special place to work for and be a part of".
I am proud to say I have my own young child in school and more on the way, I believe so much that everyone needs a helping hand at some stage in life, from young children through to adults, and I recognize it takes a very brave person to reach out for help, knowing they have a safe place and counsellors provide this in a confidential and caring environment in the current times of trepidation!
I appreciate times are hard for many people currently, but if you can spare any donations at all and share this charitable event with others, maybe we can raise some important funds for CASY to help them do all the amazing work for our kids, relations and/or caregivers that may be having a hard time right now.
I truly believe, if we don’t look after the youth of today, the future will not be as bright.
Thank you for your generous thoughts and donations in advance.
