World AIDS Day 2020 Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Welcome to a very different World AIDS Day, as we move all our events and fundraising online. As part of World AIDS Day 2020, we wanted to share with you some of the pioneering contributions our teams have made to the global fight against HIV/AIDS for more than 30 years, including:
- Professor Brian Gazzards diagnosis of the first case of AIDS in the UK in 1979
- Anti-retroviral therapies we helped to research and develop including one of the worlds largest drug trails the PrEP Impact Trial
- Rapid and mass testing initiatives, we have a Guinness World Record for testing!
- Ground-breaking awareness and prevention campaigns including Dean Streets Plan ZERO which saw the number of HIV diagnoses at the clinic (2015-2017) fall by 80% and highlighted by UNAIDS.
