Story
Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is endemic. We are fortunate in the UK to have many laws and policies which exist to protect women from violence and ensure perpetrators are prosecuted. However, those on the ground who are responsible for implementing these laws are often failing to do so adequately, or in some cases, at all. This means that perpetrators of sexual violence, domestic abuse and other forms of VAWG are able to go on to re-offend and in some cases, kill.
Domestic violence killings have reached their highest in five years .
Rape prosecutions have dropped to a catastrophic 1.4% and are at their lowest levels in more than a decade .
Sexual violence in universities has risen by 82% in 4 years .
We can't do this alone. This Christmas we would like to raise £3,000 to help fund our charitable work. We are the only organisation that brings strategic legal challenges - lawsuits which have the potential to effect broader changes in society that will impact on how the state deals with VAWG.
This year alone we have launched several high-profile legal challenges including a judicial review of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) change in policy which we have reason to believe has led to the drastic and horrifying decline in rape prosecutions recently reported.
We also deliver training to frontline women's services to recognise and challenge police failures in domestic abuse, harassment, stalking and sexual offences. Our work helps to identify and raise awareness of systemic issues in the states response to VAWG, with a view to influencing policy and practice, and improving women's access to justice.
We don't believe male violence is inevitable.
Our vision is a society in which all state institutions work effectively to eradicate male violence. Please donate to make our vision a reality.
