Crystal had a rough start to life after she was found in the road next to her mother, who was killed when she was hit by a car. A good Samaritan brought Crystal and her sister to Marin Humane, where we soon discovered both to have Panleukopenia, a potentially fatal disease. We jumped into action to help these poor kittens with medicine, fluids and other supportive care.

While her sister recovered quickly, poor Crystal just could not get a break! She faced a slew of successive ailments that included ringworm, allergic reactions to ringworm medication, a persistent URI, and a skin infection.

Thanks to donor support for our Critical Care Fund, we could give Crystal all the medical care and time she needed to recover, get spayed, and get ready for adoption. However, a long time in isolation meant that Crystal needed extra help socializing. Because she was still highly contagious, she needed special volunteers willing to take the necessary precautions while they gave her the socialization she desperately needed. Luckily, we had an all-star team who could do just that.

Crystal did not take long to find her new home once she was healthy and comfortable outside of her cage. While a bit shy at first, she loved playing with cat toys and settling on laps for extended petting sessions.
