Story
When we imagine the impact our plans for a community hub could make its easy to see why were passionate about this vision.
This ambitious project has been in the planning for the past three years. We are delighted to report that it is now on the verge of becoming a reality.
The aim has always been to create a community hub which will be a welcoming and engaging space that reaches out to everyone. The architect designed building will be modern, accessible and stand independently in the church grounds. It will offer room for groups and events alongside a wide range of activities and services delivered in collaboration with partner charities. At its heart will be a warm safe venue offering a place where people can meet, eat and enjoy each others company.
Fellowship, hospitality, and friendship have always been key aspects of the life of St. Thomas church but this has always been restricted by our lack of space. Now more than ever as we face difficult times ahead, we want to respond to the needs of our community and beyond. Together we can make a difference.
Consultation has been important to maintain a sense of ownership of this project. The Hub Project belongs to the whole community. To this end, endorsement by the school, parish councils and various other organisations has been hugely beneficial in validating the plan. Overwhelming support has been given for a new meeting place in the heart of the two parishes of Sedgwick and Stainton with dedicated car parking and easy access.
We have secured the land, building permissions and design and thanks to the generosity of our community, we have already raised over £55,000. Our public appeal is for a further £150,000 which will turn this bold vision into a reality.
Thank you for your support!
