Story
Jack has been involved with CRCB since he was tiny because he used to come in with his nan, Rosie, our co-founder! Sadly, Rosie died in November 2023, and Jack wants to keep fundraising for the charity in her memory, to honour the amazing work she did.
Jack, although having ran on and off for many years, had never took part in any long distance running until starting his training this year. This will be his first time aiming to complete a marathon, which isn’t the only first, as it will also be the first time that our charity has had a marathon runner fundraising for us!
Jack says “I have been around to see Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind (CRCB) grow since my Nan, Rosemarie Brady BEM, co-founded it back in 2010. I know just how far every penny goes to delivering the very necessary support to the blind and visually impaired across Coventry & Warwickshire.
Sadly we lost Rosie in November, and I thought that challenging myself with this race would be the perfect way to celebrate her memory and continue her legacy. A slightly more demanding challenge than the supermarket bag-packing events that she’d often sign me up for on the weekends!
Nan was always looking for the next opportunity to raise funding to keep CRCB going. While suffering from sight loss herself she never let it be an obstacle, working tirelessly right up to the months before her passing.
The centre was truly one of my Nan’s proudest achievements and has provided community for those that use its services. It has helped them learn life skills, hobbies and provides emotional support while they come to terms with sight loss. With such help, everybody can be as confident and capable with their sight loss as Nan was.
I’m determined to surpass my fundraising target and continue to support this great organisation, as their first ever marathon runner.”
Will you support Jack with this fantastic challenge and help us carry on the work of supporting Coventry visually impaired community as Rosie did over so many years?
