Story
At this time of international emergency, hospitals need all the help they can get to provide more beds for urgent Covid-19 cases. Help me raise £250,000 to support people discharged from hospital after recent brain injury or stroke, to stay safe at home but without losing access to the recovery therapies and support they desperately need.
Our Emergency Response project will help people leaving hospital in-patient recovery wards, to stay connected to the therapy support services essential for their ongoing mental and physical recovery.
100% of your donation will fund virtual therapy clinics so rehabilitation therapists can keep in touch and provide the essential help post acute stroke and brain injury patients need. This will also enable front line clinicians and nurses to focus on pandemic patients.
We are working to provide global solutions through University College London (UCL) in the UK and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Boston in the USA to ensure your money is used in the best way possible.
More information about the services we developing with our partners can be found here: https://www.sameyou.org/impact
The coronavirus pandemic has created unprecedented demand for hospital beds and made hospitals higher risk locations for catching the virus. As a result, brain injury and stroke patients are being relocated. We are funding UCL's neurorehabilitation team to develop new ways to deliver ongoing care packages, recovery therapies and emotional support directly into their homes.
At Spaulding Rehabilitation Boston (SRH) and its network hospitals, brain injury and stroke patients are being cared for on site and at home with utmost safety. We are funding SRH's new virtual wellness programme that will make it possible for patients with low income who have been discharged recently and are struggling financially to connect remotely and thrive together during the COVID-19 crisis.
Together, we can slow the spread of coronavirus through social distancing to stop hospitals from being overwhelmed by new cases.
Thank you to everyone who donated between the 30th of March and 9th of April 2020. Twelve randomly drawn supporters took part in the Virtual Dinner Party on 6th May2020. This event has now ended.
