Story
Our charity is facing unprecedented challenges and this virus could even threaten our future survival.
With sadness we took the difficult decision to close our drop in centre at a time when the young people we support need us more than ever. However we are still moving people into accommodation as well as going out to support clients using self-distancing.
Many of our clients have mental health issues and are lonely, isolated and anxious. Many do not have family or friends to support them. Covid-19 has heightened these feelings and insecurities as lots of them do not have access to the internet or cannot afford phone credit or sometimes even a phone, which is vital to stay in contact with important support networks. Phones will also mean that they can learn and interact which will help to distract negative thoughts and reduce anxiety.
Also many clients are urgently asking us for food as well as gas and electricity cards too as they are all living on very limited incomes..
Your help now will be a life line for our clients.
Please help us. By donating to Doorway you can assist us to provide these urgent items.
Our priority is keeping the clients in our services and our staff safe and supported.
Doorway needs to remain strong and available throughout this crisis to ensure that when this crisis is over, we can still deliver the same high-quality support that we do now.
Please do all take care and follow government guidelines. The more we can reduce the spread of the virus the better for all of us.
Warmest wishes from all at Doorway
