Story
None of the surviving three Coronation cars have carried passengers on the Blackpool tramway since 2014 and out of these, car 304 is unique in being the only example to retain its original Vambac equipment. It is arguably the "Flying Scotsman" of the tramway world in its iconic status.
In a move to restore it back to working condition, some work has taken place in the last few months to remedy a battery charging fault, replace the batteries and, thanks to two benefactors, refurbish the 4 air operated door rams.
The next phase of work is to overhaul the Maley & Taunton compressor which is worn out and leaking oil into the air circuit. CPM in Trafford Park, Manchester can overhaul the compressor for £3160 with a 4-week delivery time. Once we are well on the way to raising this target we can give them the go-ahead.
with your help, let's take another step towards 304's reappearance on the promenade so that you will be able to ride on it.
