Story

About Happy Days Covid Family Support Project

The effects of the Coronavirus pandemic have been profound, but even more so on the mental health of families that were already struggling with the everyday challenges of looking after a child with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

As our regular supporters and beneficiaries will probably already know, Happy Days Children's Charity has been funding and arranging special days and memorable activities for children with physical, mental and emotional challenges for almost 30 years.

With your help, we were able to support almost 25,000 children with additional needs last year, removing barriers to give them a chance to get out, make new friends, develop new skills and build confidence in the face of adversity.

How We're Trying to Help

Owing to the current circumstances, some of our childrens activities have of course been affected. But with careful planning and by working together, we're helping families through this difficult time.

Every day we're receiving more and more calls from mums and dads who are stuggling to cope with the additional pressures caused by the coronavirus pandemic and who need our help. With this in mind, we've set up the Happy Days Covid Family Support Project. The purpose of this campaign is to encourage people to raise funds to help us provide support for SEND children who have been further impacted by the coronavirus. Funds raised will help us provide holidays and activities for parents, teachers, schools and community groups to bring them some happiness and hope.

Funds raised through this appeal will be helping:

SEND Children who have suffered with Coronavirus

SEND Children who have lost a parent, grandparent, brother or sister

Families of SEND children that have been seriously impacted financially through the loss of employment or other circumstances

SEND Children whose mental health has been severely impacted as a result of the pandemic

Whilst we can't heal the damage that has been done, we're going to try and help families on the road to recovery as best we can, providing them with a vital lifeline and something to look forward to.
