Story

With the effects of covid and the cost of living crisis, buying online and having shopping delivered has become very normal and easy. This event aims to remind people what amazing shops we have on our doorstep. If we dont use them, we will lose them! If we lose local businesses, we will lose the opportunity to put money back into the community, local jobs, the heart and soul of our village, friendly customer service, bespoke local produce and most importantly the village we love.

As a result, local primary schools Cookham Dean and Cookham Rise, with the support of Holy Trinity, have created a walking trail to help celebrate our fantastic local businesses!

**PLEASE NOTE: Once you have made your donation, look out for a thank you email from JustGiving / Cookham Dean School PTA which will contain a URL to copy and paste into the search bar to get your map and answer sheet! If you do NOT receive this email (don't forget to check your Junk email folder), please email pta@cookhamdean.org and we can email it to you.

The trail will wind its way through the village taking you from shop to café to pub to shop. The businesses are all numbered, and you can follow the route in order, or make your own route. Don't forget a pen or pencil to fill the map in!

The trail will start on Saturday 1 of April between 10am and 4pm (trading hours). This is the main event, but if families cant make it that day, then the clues will remain in the shop windows until Sunday 16 April. There will be anagrams, clues, questions, and a challenge, and there may be an appearance from the Easter Bunny with chocolate eggs.

Some shops will have loyalty and discount cards and offers on, for example - encourage your child to bring a good quality toy, book or clothing donation to the Age Concern charity shop on 1 April and get a chocolate egg in return!

If you live outside Cookham, can we suggest taking the train, as this could add to the fun? Although, there is plenty of parking in and around the village. There are also lots of pubs and cafés in the village to buy lunch.

There will be a prize draw at the end of the event, so make sure you add your contact details and hand your map to Pike Smith & Kemp by 4pm on Saturday 15 April or The Little Bookshop by 4pm on Sunday 16th April. Alternatively, take a photo of it and email it to: pta@cookhamdean.org

The event is being organized jointly by Cookham Dean and Cookham Rise Primary schools, supported by Holy Trinity. If you would like to support the schools, we are asking for a suggested donation of £5 (optional) - money raised will be split 50/50 between the two schools. After donating, you will receive a Thank You email with a link to download the map.

If you are not able to donate, but still wish to take part, please email pta@cookhamdean.org to receive a map by return.

We hope you have an egg-cellent time!
