Story
Catching public transport when you have severe mobility issues can be a real challenge, when you also face economic financial challenges even more so. This leads many people to be socially isolated and lonely. Stats show that people with a disability are more likely to live in poverty. Social isolation and loneliness leads to further mental decline and is estimated to cost the UK around £2.1bn every year. Our service users face many challenges and it is with this that our charity purpose is to operate affordable accessible transport services in the local area and through this, promote social inclusion, independence and a sense of community. Community Transport and greater access to appropriate transport for health & self care appointments has been linked to a reduction in the number of health appointment "Did Not Attends" (DNAs) as well as a reduction in required domiciliary provision.
