Story
In 2017 a group of volunteers formed Richmond Christmas Day Dinner. The aim was to bring together 50 care leavers from Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow on Christmas Day. Our guests are care leavers, aged 18-25 who have spent all or some of their childhood in care and now live independently. They are bright, young, resilient people who may otherwise spend Christmas Day alone. Some of our guest have been coming every year since the first year and it is now a Christmas tradition for them.
It became clear that our guests on Christmas Day needed support throughout the year, which they were unable to access through local authority or other organisations. So we formed a registered charity, Cocoon - Care After Care, to support care-experienced young people in Richmond, Hounslow and Kingston throughout the year.
Cocoon - Care After Care, are carrying on the tradition of hosting Christmas Day for 50 care leavers from our local community. But we need your help to fundraise for the big day!
Your donation goes much further than enabling us to buy presents and ingredients for dinner. It shows our guests that they are visible, valued and cared for by their community. With your help, well create some beautiful Christmas memories to last a lifetime.
You can find out more about us on our website - Cocoon - Care After Care .
*Please note that any surplus donations will be used by Cocoon - Care After Care, to support our care leavers throughout the year, future Christmas Day events, and a small amount may be used to help cover our admin and overhead expenses.*
