In 1886 27 lifeboat men lost their lives in their heroic mission to rescue crew from the stricken Barque - The Mexico off the coast of Lytham St Annes & Liverpool. Out of adversity and hardship, communities pulled together and in 1891 brought a Lifeboat into the city of Manchester for the world’s first ever street collection which paved the way how charities fundraise today.
Inspired by this, Coast to Cobbles will once again bring communities together to Commemorate, Celebrate & Inspire the next generation of lifesavers in our 200th year.
Launching from Silloth in Cumbria, travelling into Salford Quays, a lifeboat will retell this story of community. Transporting a Time Capsule and picking up stories to inspire the next generation, celebrations will take place all along the coast and inland with key fundraising activities at Lytham St Annes, Liverpool and Salford Quays.
This iconic event will be taking place Saturday 28th September to Thursday 10th October 2024 and we need your help to keep saving lives for another 200 years.
