Story
In 2021, the City of Norwich Aviation Museum Trustees recognized the need to increase the useable display space within the museums main building. To enable this, it was agreed that a new extension would need to be constructed which would allow further display areas to be created and increase the museums educational output.
In early 2022, the museum was approached by Fenland and West Norfolk Aviation Museum and asked if they would take on the majority of it's collection. With this proposal, CNAMs planned expansion changed - not only would this space need to house CNAM's already large collection of the civilian aspects of Norfolks Aviation Heritage. It would also have to house an entire other museum!
The museum dedicates certain funds to enable future projects, such as this, to take place and whilst some funding can be raised through entrance fees, events, sponsorship and various grants, there is still a significant shortfall.
In order to construct a building of similar design to those that already exist, the museum is investing around £175,000. This sum includes all aspects of planning, roundwork, construction and fit-out.
To raise this sum, we need your help. The museum aims to raise £17,500 via JustGiving and public dontions to enable this project to continue. Monies raised in this way will be used during the final fit-out stage of the project. It is hoped this amount can be raised prior to the final stages of the buildings basic construction which are expected to take place in April & May 2023.
With planning already granted, the museum building will begin the first stage of construction in January 2023 and all funds donated will be placed in a restricted fund used solely for the project they were donated towards.
