The Chilwell Memorial Hall was created to commemorate those who lost their lives in the Great War. The Hall opened on 3rd May 1924 for the purposes of assembly and recreation for local residents. At the opening Mr. G.H. Hurt, local clothes and fabric manufacturer, expressed the hope that the 30 men of Chilwell that sacrificed their lives in the war would not be forgotten. A brass memorial tablet commemorating their names was erected inside the Hall for the memory of the gallant Chilwell sons who fought gloriously and died that others might live.

The Hall and outdoor space are used every day, providing activities for all age groups and abilities. Our current offerings includes: Lawn Tennis; Walking Netball; Walking Football; Table Tennis; Indoor Short Mat Bowls; Ladies Badminton; Ballroom Dancing Classes; Line Dancing; Zumba; Laban Dance; Keep Fit; Pilates; Baby Sensory; Beeston Christian Spiritualist Church; Beeston Quakers; ASSIM Church; Beeston and District History Society; and Womens Institute.
