Story
Once again, our branch is open throughout the Christmas festivities to provide emotional support to anyone who is struggling to cope.
Christmas may be a wonderful time of year for some, but it's also a time when feelings of loneliness, depression and anxiety can be overwhelming - not least because of the pressure to be happy and merry. For many people struggling to cope, we'll be the only lifeline open when many other services are closed.
Last year, our volunteers responded to around 7,809 calls for help during December including Christmas Day. This year, your support could help us answer even more calls for help from people who are unable to cope.
Every call we answer could be the one that saves or changes someone's life - the call that ends with someone finding the strength to keep going.
Thanks to your support and donations, a Samaritan was there to answer Jasons call for help. Talking on the phone helped him to realise that he could find the strength to carry on and that he didnt have to face the future alone.
Jason has become a mental health ambassador. He shares his story to encourage people who feel overwhelmed to reach out for help and change their life story.
This has been a year like no other. Many people will be feeling even more isolated at Christmas due to the pandemic. They may have lost a loved one to coronavirus or feel anxious about the economic crisis.
Jasons story ended with him helping others to change theirs. It began with someone like you. Can you help us answer another call and change someone elses story this Christmas?
