We desperately need your help in raising £10,000 to keep the village clock chiming.
Water creeping down the tower wall from the belfry has caused the clock room floor and the timber support beneath to rot. Although the entry of water into the tower has now been stopped, the clock room floor is unsafe. A temporary solution to allow the clock to be wound in the short term has been found but a permanent alternative needs to be put in place.
Plans have not yet been finalised but rotten timber must be replaced and additional support be built into the wall below the floor to provide support to the existing sound timber.
An initial survey suggests that repairs may cost around £10,000.
Please help us to restore the floor so that the village clock can be safely wound.
