Story
In 2022, Cure Leukaemia fielded our biggest ever team taking on the TCS London Marathon to help raise vital funds for blood cancer patients across the UK.
We would like to say a huge thank you to each and every runner who put on our pink running jersey and headed to London to put their body through pain to raise funds for the charity.
Each runner had their own unique reasons for running the London Marathon with Cure Leukaemia close to the hearts of all of them.
- Tara Pelley - ran on behalf of her friend Claire who was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2021
- Matt Shilvock - ran on behalf of his best friend's Dad who sadly passed away from leukaemia.
- Nick Duncan - a Haematology Pharmacist working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham
- Matt Greenaway - his girlfriend (now wife) was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2017, but has made a full recovery.
- Matt Slater - ran on behalf of his youngest son, George, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) a week before his 4th birthday.
- Rebecca Sands - Ran on behalf of her husbands best friend, whose five-year-old son was diagnosed with a very aggressive and rare blood cancer which required immediate treatment.
- Grace Endley - Ran on behalf of her boyfriend who was diagnosed with leukaemia on her 26th birthday
- Kev Hoskins - Ran on behalf of his best friend's son who lost his son (and Kev's Godson) Harry to leukaemia back in 2016, just 8 days after his 6th birthday.
- Our very own CEO, James McLaughlin.
Your generosity means we can help the prospects of blood cancer patients by funding more nurses and running more clinical trials through the Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) network of 12 centres across the UK.
Thank you!
