Story
This October a passionate group of IJM supporters will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime an arduous six-day climb of the worlds highest free-standing mountain Mount Kilimanjaro, via the Rongai route, to support the work of International Justice Mission. Climb for Freedom 2022 is hosted by IJM UK in partnership with RightFoot Adventures.
Our champions will trek through tropical rainforest, alpine landscape and lunar desert before reaching the stunning glacier at the mountains summit for sunrise on Anti-Slavery Day, 18th October 2022. The group will also spend dedicated time in Kenya with IJMs team that work to combat police abuse of power, and be inspired by the hope of the movement to end violent injustice and slavery around the world.
Climb for Freedom 2022 is raising funds for one vital reason: to help bring an end to modern slavery and violence around the world. Over 40 million children, women and men are held in slavery today more than any other time in history and the pandemic has only increased the vulnerability of people living in poverty to encountering violence and exploitation. Your support will help IJM continue this crucial work to stop slavery and violent oppression for good.
International Justice Mission is a global organisation that protects people living in poverty from slavery and violence. As the worlds largest anti-slavery organisation, IJM partners with local authorities in 24 programme offices in 14 countries to combat slavery, violence against women and children, and police abuse of power by:
- Bringing people to safety and supporting survivors with trauma-informed care
- Bringing criminals to justice
- Helping local law enforcement strengthen justice systems
- Scaling demand for protection to build safe communities
IJM and partners have brought over 76,000 people to safety since 1997, and seen slavery decrease by up to 86% in places where they have worked and they won't stop until all are free.
