🌍 Sponsor City to Sea on the Big Green Hike! 💚
Here at City to Sea HQ, we’re lacing up our hiking boots for the Big Green Hike! On Friday 5th April, our team (alongside some amazing partners and supporters) will be taking part in the nationwide sponsored walk. Walking from sea to city (see what we did there 😉) we’re asking for donations to help us deliver our mission – to prevent plastic pollution at source.
The problem:
Plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental issues we face. Just 10 plastic products make up almost 80% of ocean pollution, with single-use bags, plastic bottles, food containers and food wrappers topping the list*. The overproduction and consumption of single-use plastic is creating a global environmental and humanitarian crisis. Every year around the world we use millions of tonnes of single-use plastic and, with only 12% of Britain’s single-use plastic likely recycled, it’s becoming clear that recycling is only part of the solution. We urgently need to shift from our disposable, single-use culture to a more sustainable, circular future, with reuse & refill at the centre. We need to act now.
The solution:
The plastic problem is complicated, but the solutions don’t have to be. Our award-winning campaigns tackle the most polluting single-use items, focusing on upstream solutions so our oceans and beaches don’t need to be cleaned in the future. From tech-powered solutions and behaviour change campaigns, to grassroots community-led action and game-changing education programmes, our award-winning initiatives are helping individuals and organisations reduce single-use plastic and have a measurable, lasting impact.
Your support will help us deliver and grow our:
💧 Plastic-Preventing Campaigns - such as Refill and Plastic-Free Periods - behaviour change campaigns helping people live with less plastic.
🤝 Political Advocacy Work – a central part of our theory of change and a core part of our 2024 work
✊ Community Engagement – our growing network of 300+ Refill Schemes power the #RefillRevolution on the ground across the UK, empowering local communities to refill and reuse.
We'll be walking an 8-mile route along the River Avon from the Severn Estuary to Bristol's floating harbour, taking in all the gorgeous wildlife our local green and blue spaces have to offer, and picking up some litter on the way!
Thank you! Any donation you can make is hugely appreciated. Please also share this page far and wide so that we can raise as much money as possible to support our planet-protecting work!
With oceans of gratitude,
The City to Sea Team 💙
