Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ
Eliminating death and suffering from prostate cancer
Right now, there are hundreds of men and their families living with prostate cancer in Canterbury. But you can help.
Make your run count as participate in City2Surf and raise funds to help us support them.
Prostate cancer is the leading cancer in Kiwi men with over 3,500 diagnosed and sadly over 600 men die from it every year. The Prostate Cancer Foundation works actively to raise awareness of the disease and the message for men to get checked.
Prostate cancer is very treatable, especially if it is diagnosed early. That is why men over 50 (40 with a family history) should be getting checked each year by their doctor.
How your support will make a difference.
Men going through a diagnosis and treatment for prostate cancer will often struggle with anxiety and fear of the unknown as they look ahead in their lives. A key service provided by the Prostate Cancer Foundation during this difficult time is free support and information for men and their families through:
A national support network including more than 38 support groups led by passionate volunteers who have lived through their own encounter with the disease - there are four Support Groups in the Christchurch region; a free 0800 477 678 Helpline; an online support forum for people to share experiences and ask questions; and conferences, webinars and public education forums providing expert information.
Why do we need your support?
As a charity we rely on the support of individuals like you, trusts, businesses, community groups and other supporters, as we receive no Government funding. You can support us through your participation in City2Surf this year by making a donation on our website at https://prostate.org.nz/make-donation/ or better still, please set up your own fundraising page right here.
