Story
Every year, disadvantaged local people struggle most at Christmas. The pressure to provide for families during the festive period is immense and can often result in spiralling household debt and long-term financial hardship.
So, in the run-up to Christmas we put together and send out Christmas Hampers for people in desperate need, to give them a break from their struggles and allow them to instead enjoy Christmas with their families like the rest of us. Each year, more and more people and families are in need of support at this time of year, so every year we send out more Hampers than the year before.
Last year however, with the impact of the pandemic on already vulnerable communities, the amount of people identified as being in need of extra support skyrocketed. Thanks to incredibly generous support, donations and volunteering from local people and organisations, we were able to send out all that was needed - an enormous 242 Hampers, the total contents worth over £12,000, with 525 adults and children directly benefiting from their household receiving a Hamper.
Tragically, there has been little recovery in our communities and from the requests we have already received, just as many people will be in need of a Hamper this year.
Anything you can donate will help to ensure local people in need can have some relief from the struggles they face and be able to provide for their families over Christmas.
