Story
The Children's Memorial Gardens are two private memorial gardens set in the picturesque village of Longwick, Buckinghamshire. We are a registered charity that exists solely to support the bereaved families and friends of deceased or missing children.
The idea for the Gardens came about back in 2014, after our founder John realised that several of his friends who had lost children, didn't have a special place specifically for grieving parents. Having seen firsthand the devastating impacts made on their lives, he knew he wanted to help them and other families in some way.
John's plan was to create two whimsical, tranquil spaces - The Four Seasons Garden and The Secret Orchard - where visitors could grieve in peace, cherish their precious memories, commemorate their loved one and receive expert support through grief.
Now eight years on and we are just about to open the gardens to the public. We work closely with several other charities including The Compassionate Friends UK, The Lindengate Charity and One Can Trust, along with local refuges to raise awareness of child mortality factors and prevention measures.
Some of the agricultural land around the Gardens is also being turned into a food production area, where the produce will be collected and donated to local food banks.
Anyone who has suffered the loss of a child can use the gardens and receive free emotional and physical support, regardless of their child's age at the time. Please donate if you can and help us make them an extra special place for people who have suffered the single most devastating event that anyone can go through.
Every penny raised will go towards the cost of thousands more plants, shrubs and trees, along with special retreat and activity days in collaboration with our charity partners. Follow us on Facebook to find out how we're using your money and to see our latest developments.
