Story
ISPCC Childline is Irelands 24-hour active listening service for children. The service is free to contact, confidential and non-judgemental. Children and young people can contact Childline by phone, online or by text to chat about anything which may be on their mind there is no topic to big or small.
Since restrictions including the closure of schools were introduced, Childline has noted an increased number of children and young people reaching out to the service for support online. Some of the topics children and young people have spoken with Childline about most frequently include Abuse and Violence, Mental Health Difficulties, Family Relationships and Covid-19.
Childline relies on donations for 90 per cent of its funding. The usual fundraising activities on which the service relies have had to be put on hold. Children need Childline now more than ever, but public support is needed to ensure it can continue to be there for them 24 hours a day, every day. The service hugely appreciates all generosity it receives.
