There are also a significant number of siblings and parents / guardians impacted by cancer, alongside extended family members and friends.
A childhood cancer diagnosis is a life changing and challenging experience for the diagnosed child and their entire family circle.
Beyond the essential medical care there is a family life that needs put back together again, and Cancer Fund for Children are here to connect, empower, and strengthen families impacted by childhood cancer across the Island of Ireland.
We want every family to be able to access our services, in every county and every community... family's just like Annabel's.
Se up your JustGiving page today! Whether taking on a solo activity, or joining together with family, friends, work colleagues, your local club or community group, or with your school, your support will be most sincerely appreciated in helping us ensure no child has to face cancer alone. Here are a few ideas of what you could get up to!
1) Dress down day - perfect for the workplace, in school, or even at a club training night. With gold being the colour representing Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, light up your dress down day by asking everyone to wear either an item of gold or yellow for the day / night and ask everyone to make a donation to your JustGiving page to join in the fun. You could even give a prize for best dressed to encourage everyone to get involved!
2) Coffee morning - perfect for all groups, you can't beat a sit down for a catch up with a cuppa and some yummy treats! Set your date, send out the invites, and invite everyone along for some bought in or home made treats (gold / yellow themed if you want!) and then share your JustGiving page so people can make a donation for attending. If you want to take it one step further, why not organise a bake off? Ready, set, bake!
3) The number 30 - throughout September, approximately another 30 young people will be diagnosed with cancer. Take the number 30 as your inspiration to organise a fun-filled challenge whilst raising those vital funds to ensure these children don't have to face cancer alone. It could be a 30 mile or 30k walk, run, or cycle. Or it could be 30 sea dips in 30 days. 30 laps around your clubs grounds or office building. Or how about 30 people asked to make a £5 or £10 donation for a great cause?
4) Be a superhero - take the lead of our amazing group of Superhero Skydivers this September and be a superhero for the day with your own team! Don't worry, you don't have to throw yourself out of a plane, but you could have a superhero themed dress up day to be a superhero for young people impacted by cancer. Or why not organise a superhero 5k around a local park?
There are lots of ways for you to get involved and help make a massive impact for young people impacted by cancer this September. If you need any advice on taking on one of these activities, or have your own idea that you would like help with, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Fundraising Team who will be here to support you every step of the way. Whether you need advice or supporting materials (such as promotional posters, buckets, balloons, banners, or charity literature), we are only ever a phone call or email away.
