"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world", Nelson Mandela
Deep issues of social and economic inequality underlie educational disadvantage, and many of our young children continue to face formidable obstacles. Some are born into families grappling with economic hardship where the challenges to provide are often overwhelming. Over 250,000 children in Ireland are living in enforced deprivation according to the latest Survey of Income and Living conditions (SILC 2023) published by the Central Statistics Office.
Others find themselves lost in overcrowded classrooms where there is no capacity to meet their needs. Even in rural Ireland, social isolation can leave children friendless and lonely without social interactions to build confidence and resilience. Our short video powerfully communicates the power of education to break the cycle of disadvantage and how we have been putting donations to good use.
