Story
Through the dedication of our staff and the support of our members, donors, volunteers, and program participants, 2021 has been an incredible year of impact for the YMCA of Greater Louisville. To continue this trend of success, we need the support of people as eager as we are to help everyone in our community grow healthy in spirit, mind, and body. Below are just a few of our most impactful programs over the past year:
- More than 30 cancer survivors participated in LIVESTRONG at the YMCA since the program reopened in June
- 246 students participated in the YMCA Black Achievers program
- 465 kids learned life-saving skills in Safety Around Water
- YMCA Safe Place Shelter House and the Youth Development Center served a combined 300 youth in crisis and homeless young adults
- Chestnut Street YMCA Men's Supportive Housing Program continues to provide permanent housing for 41 individuals
- 14 youth in our community participated in the Immigrant Youth Leadership program that focused on advocacy, compassion, immigration, and how to combat harmful stereotypes about immigrants and refugees
- Filmmaking, music production and design were introduced to more than 120 kids at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center at the Republic Bank Foundation YMCA
- Over 4,000 families and individuals received YMCA memberships through our financial assistance programs
Working together, we focus on empowering young people, improving health and well-being, and inspiring action in and across communities.
