Story
Chester Pride has become about more than just the one day event that we are most known for. We know that LGBT+ people need support all year round, and are still facing issues around homophobia, transphobia, workplace discrimination, homelessness, domestic and familial abuse, mental health, and more. We have created six projects to ensure that we can be there to help the LGBT+ community, and start to address these issues. Any money rasied through events like the sponsored walk go towards delivering these projects, and will directly help LGBT+ people. And of course, all money raised will help us bring the main Chester Pride event back, and ensure it is still a free community event.
Our six projects are:
Just Ask helpline offering advice, support, and information on any LGBT+ topic.
Gather Round social and support groups, to offer specific and targeted support to those who need it most
Out and About, offering a wide range of social activity for LGBT+ people to meet other, combat social isolation, and enjoy themselves in safe spaces
Take 5, a campaign encouraging everyone to take five minutes out of their day to practice some self care (and you get a free mug!)
Box Project offering free condoms and sanitary towels to those who need them
Chester Digital Pride, and online version of our main Chester Pride event offering entertainment, helat and wellbeing workshops, talks, social hangouts and more.
Info on all our projects, and any new ones we think of can be found on our website chesterpride.co.uk
