Story

In June 2023, we were asked by the local inspectorate team to take on multiple animals from one home. Amongst these animals were Charlie and Marley - two small dogs with big personalities that needed our support.

Their previous owner had sadly fallen on difficult times and could no longer give older boys Charlie and Marley the care they needed. Both dogs soon saw our local vet who had a few concerns for 10 year old Jack Russell x, Charlie. Charlie has multiple lumps on his body and was very overweight, after multiple tests, the vets confirmed that he has Cushing’s Disease and he has begun a medical trial for this whilst the vets further investigate his medical needs.

Marley, the 7 year old pocket rocket Chihuahua, needed eight teeth removing recently and was castrated. He does have a grade one luxating patella, which currently isn’t a cause for concern for him but will need to be managed for the remainder of his life.

This dynamic duo are now at the point where we can find a loving new home for them. Due to Charlie's medical needs, our branch will financially support new owners with his medical needs for the rest of his life. We can discuss all types of homes for the boys as they have lived with cats before and seem very relaxed around children, but little Chihuahua Marley can be very reactive towards other dogs so this will need discussing for potential homes with dogs.

These boys may be small, but they have such huge personalities. Charlie loves the sound of his own voice and will sing loudly before his walks in excitement and little Marley loves to be centre of attention. What these boys want most is to be cuddled and fussed by anyone willing. We know they'll make the most perfect companions to the right home...

As a self-funded branch of the RSPCA these boys have come at huge cost to our branch and will continue to be for the rest of their lives. We firmly believe that every animal deserves a second chance, but we cannot help them without your support. If you can donate to this fundraiser, you’ll be supporting Charlie’s long term medical needs and ensuring that we can continue to take on animals when they need us most.

Think you can offer these boys the home they deserve? Call our branch on 0637 881455, or fill out the lonline application form: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=rc0266&method=online_form_html&formid=40
