Story
The coronavirus crisis threatens the wellbeing and mental health of the most vulnerable children and young people in our communities. Support from The Eikon Charity at school, in their local youth club or with their counsellor is a lifeline for many.
Because of covid-19 we had to take the difficult decision to suspend face to face work at a time when the children we support are more anxious than ever. BUT, we are still supporting those most at risk and need your help to be able to continue.
We are working with children and young people remotely by phone and other safe and appropriate means of communication, prioritising those most in need of our support. We're also setting up an online virtual youth club, ensuring local children can still access high quality support and age appropriate resources.
The public focus is rightly on protecting physically vulnerable people, but we need to be careful not to neglect the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children who are already struggling to cope. The impact could be just as tragic as that of the virus itself.
Eikon's work will continue as long as we can do so safely without risking anyone's health and as long as we have the money to pay our staff team.
Our voluntary income has been badly affected by this crisis. We are launching this appeal to raise the funds we need to remain strong and available to children throughout and to ensure that when this crisis is over, we can still deliver the same high-quality support that we do now.
Please donate so we can be there for children who need us, thank you.
