Visit the charity's profileQuilt at CHAM This year, as we face the COVID-19 pandemic together, running as a Champion for CHAM is more important than ever. Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM), traditionally focused on pediatric care, has opened its doors to adults and the elderly with COVID-19.
Money raised by the Champion for CHAM marathon runners will benefit CHAM's Quality in Life Team (QUILT). This team of palliative care experts are trained to help families navigate medical decisions and offer support as they face the uncertainty of life-threatening and fatal illnesses, including COVID-19. Additionally, QUILT provides supportive contact for those patients who are unable to have a family member present due to infection control issues.
The COVID-19 pandemic illustrates more poignantly than ever why a hospital needs a strong palliative care and support program. Sarah Norris, MD, a marathon runner and Director of Pediatric Palliative Care / QUILT at CHAM, explains more in this video segment.
